Lindsay Recar
Multimedia artist As a visual artist, I enjoy creating artwork through vine charcoal, graphite, and pen, though I do experiment with other media. My style is a mixture of realism and surrealism, often taking otherworldly concepts and adding realistic shading and texture. Craftsmanship is important to me, as I tend to be a perfectionist. After pouring hours into a piece, it is fulfilling to have the finished product that I can be proud of. I’ve always been a daydreamer and a storyteller, so I spend my artistic energy on building characters and unique worlds. I draw my inspiration by pursuing the ideas and artwork of others. It's this, combined with my own personal interests, that drives my creativity. Sometimes I work with color, and other times I don't. Quick sketches or long projects tend to have no color, since I am more familiar with graphite, charcoal, and pen. I've doodled in pencil for as long as I can remember and it's a skill I continue to hone. However, it's fun to mess around with color through painting, watercolor, and colored pencils. I also occasionally work with digital drawing, using a more vibrant palette. Whatever medium I use, attention to detail is essential. |
